Equitable Group Inc. completes $50 million private placement

TORONTO, Dec. 23, 2016 /CNW/ - Equitable Group Inc. (TSX: EQB and EQB.PR.C) ("Equitable" or the "Company") confirmed today that it has completed a previously announced private placement of 809,585 common shares of the Company (the "Shares") with OMERS, the pension plan for Ontario's municipal employees (the "Private Placement").

The terms and conditions of the deal are consistent with those provided in the Company's December 12, 2016 press release announcing the transaction. Net proceeds from the Private Placement were used by the Company to invest in common shares of its wholly owned subsidiary, Equitable Bank (the "Bank"). The investment served to increase the Bank's Common Equity Tier I capital and provide the Bank with more capacity to fund the growth of its lending business.
