Canada’s Challenger Bank supporting the fight against the most common cancer affecting Canadian men
TORONTO, May 28, 2018 - EQ Bank is matching donor contributions up to $50,000 to raise vital funds for prostate cancer research, education, and support programs. As this year’s national sponsor of Plaid for Dad, EQ Bank is committed to help improve men’s health for thousands of Canadians nationwide.
Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer affecting Canadian men - an alarming 1-in-7 will be diagnosed in their lifetime. EQ Bank is committed to helping fight this disease, so men can live longer, healthier and happier lives.
“On behalf of all men and families whose lives have been impacted by prostate cancer, we are grateful for the support from EQ Bank,” said Peter Coleridge, President and CEO of Prostate Cancer Canada. “We cannot do this alone. EQ Bank and our other partners enable us to increase our ability to support research to improve prostate cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.”
In addition to matching donations, EQ Bank will contribute $25 for every new EQ Bank customer who opens a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) between April 9 and June 30, 2018 (to a maximum of $10,000).
Employees are also putting on their plaid to support dad by participating in the annual Plaid for Dad social movement. Until June 17, 2018, EQ Bank will donate $1 for every photo shared on social media with the hashtag #PlaidForDad (up to a maximum of $50,000).
“We are proud to support Prostate Cancer Canada to help men across the country battle this disease,” said Bryan Dinh, Director of Marketing at EQ Bank. “By working together, we can accelerate research for a cure and better treatments.”
